Board of Directors Meeting

November 6, 2013
Conference Call

The meeting was called to order by President Andy Mindemann. Those present were: Paul Nuttelman, Justin Diefenbach, Cody Quam, Andy Mindemann, Jenny Kilpatrick, Dusty Henningfeld, Brian Nodolf, Dale Heagle Becky Henderson and Ardel Quam.

Secretary report: Henderson movedto accept the minutes from the June meeting. Schlimgen seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer report: Report given covering January through September. Nuttelman moved to accept the report. Henderson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business: World Beef Expo- C quam gave a short report on WBE. Numbers were good. The sale was a great improvement over past years. Already has people wanting to put animas in the sale.
Directory: Henderson brought up if the state wants to continue with a directory. Do we need it if we have a newsletter? Diefenbach volunteered to work with Finley to talk over where the directory can go. Henderson will forward everything she has to Justin.

CAB/CAB: Henningfeld reported that ideas need to be discussed. He has been talking to restaurants in the Milwaukee area getting their ideas. Has some chefs that would donate their time for the publicity. Henderson brought up that there is a winter festival in Lake Geneva that might be a good fit for this. He will go forward with these ideas. He will hopefully have all this information ready for the annual meeting.
Website: membership list seems to be mixed up and needs to be revamped. Kilpatrick moved to send out membership dues notice. Heagle 2nd the motion. Carried.
Angus Tour: The American Angus Association contacted the state about hosting a national tour. This will be on hold for 2014; The AAA is working on their new annual meeting they will be hosting.
New Business: Annual Meeting: what are our plans? Kilpatrick has checked with the Cranberry Lodge in Tomah and also another place in Warrens. Do we want the water park for families to stay over? The Dells is pretty centrally located. One possibility would be to rotate it between 2 locations. Heagle feels we should move for 2014. Why moving? Heagle moved to take meeting to Tomah, Kilpatrick second the motion. Carried. Kilpatrick will check with the Cranberry Lodge the 1st or 2nd weekend of March.Registration 2:30, 3:00 meeting with dinner to follow. Kilpatrick will put things together and email board members what she finds out. Dale Heagle has served 2 three terms is not eligible for reelection. Henderson, Niemann, and Diefenbach have each served one 3 year term and are eligible for re-election.

Spring Sale - One of the heifers sold through the sale came to the WJAA preview show without a tattoo in their heifer. Perhaps the committee for the sale checks that all animals are tattooed. The sale committee will check into these items. April 12, 2014 is the date for the spring sale held in conjunction with the Spring Thaw.

Next meeting: Tuesday February 4, 2014 6:30 pm Conference call.

Seeing no further business Nuttelman moved to adjourn the meeting. Henderson seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned.
