Board of Directors Meeting

March 22, 2011
UW Arlington Office, Arlington Wis.

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Hawthorne. Those present were: Jim Hawthorne, Scott Gaffney, Andy Mindemann, Casey Jentz, Justin Diefenbach, Becky Henderson, Jackie Bevan, Cody Quam, Kathy Miller, Dusty Henningfeld and Ardel Quam.

Secretary report: Gaffney moved to accept the minutes. Bevan seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer report: Report given covering January and February. A couple of items from the silent auction are still out. The items for the silent auction that were listed as WJAA items a check will be sent to them for that amount. Henderson moved to accept the report. Henningfeld seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business: State Sale- Gaffney and Quam reported- Dave Geffert is a ringman and auctioneer will be Marty Couch. Email will be going to the consignors getting information about when they will be at the sale with their cattle. The association is extremely thankful to Jim Murray for his equipment/gates. Henningfeld moved to give Jim Murray a banner ad with a link to his website and half page ad in the newsletter. Henderson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Annual meeting: General thoughts were that it was good. Tentatively stay with WCA and same schedule as 2011 in 2012. A. Quam had not received a bill from Wisconsin Cattlemen as of this meeting- but that it will be finished up very soon. The estimate was that it would be less than previous years.

Preview Open Show: Mindemann open show date is June 12th. Mindemann will contact the judge and will work with WLBA to finalize things.

Show rules- heifer & steer- A committee of Henderson, Jentz, Henningfeld, and Mindemann was formed to go over the rules and guidelines.

Bevan would like to see information where members can send animals for CAB. C. Quam will work on this.

Quam will put some ideas together about a feeder sale for the upcoming fall.

New Business:
Committees—President Hawthorne handed out the committee listing.

Newsletter: Handout covering the newsletter was given to those present. Costs and income were gone over.

Directory- Still work in progress will have it for the state sale.

Budget Presentation was given with a few changes. Bevan moved to accept the presented budget with the few changes and to use as a guideline. Henderson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Website: all changes must be made through AAA. Bevan will be contacting them to see if they will give her Admin permission. Would like to be able to make changes herself just to streamline the response time. Bevan reminded everyone that there is a Wisconsin Angus Association facebook page.

Association reports: Auxiliary will have a food stand for the state sale and will also host a desert auction just before the sale for the scholarship fund.

WCA report: Jentz reported that the winter conference went well and people were happy with the change of location

Meeting dates: May 11th, July 19th, October 19th.

Other business: Hawthorne talked about the support for the Angus steer at Wisconsin State Fair. Discussion followed. Mindemann will contact Gregg May get more information about this. A committee was set up to work on this. Mindemann and Jentz volunteered to be on the committee.

Seeing no further business Gaffney moved to adjourn the meeting. Diefenbach seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned.
