Board of Directors Meeting

March 20, 2010
Lancaster, Wis.

The meeting was called to order by president Jim Hawthorne. Those present were: Jim Hawthorne, Jeff Kind, Dan Downing, Scott Gaffney, Andy Mindemann, Dennis Schlimgen, Jackie Bevan, Cody Quam, Kathy Miller, Dusty Henningfeld, Dale Heagle, Kelli Retallick, Ardel Quam and guest Leslie Mindemann.

Secretary report: A. Mindemann moved to accept the minutes. Schlimgen seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer report: Downing moved to accept the report. Bevan seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Old Business: State Sale-Waiting on four head to stall. Three substitutions, one added lot and four drops. Question was raised as to what the agreed upon percentage for the sale with the sale manager. Henningfeld moved to table the further discussion on the spring sale till the next meeting, using the majority of the meeting for this. Schlimgen seconded the motion. Gaffney has talked to Cassady about animals selling in a Wisconsin Angus Association sponsored sale. Schlimgen moved to have all cattle be tested free or free by pedigree to sell in a WAA sponsored sale. Downing seconded the notion.

Annual meeting: Tabled until next meeting. An invitation from the WCA to join their annual convention with our annual meeting was shared by Quam. More information on this item to be gathered before the next meeting and will be presented by Quam.

Preview Open Show: Kind reported that Scott Howard has agreed to be the judge.

New Business:
Committee reports:
Newsletter: Nice comments about the first issue. First issue had quite a bit of advertising. Four hundred ninety copies were mailed out for the 1st issue. Question about the design charge to ads and how it worked. Downing moved to have the ad design be included in the price of the ad and if any ad is presented camera ready a discount will be given. Gaffney seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Directory- Miller moved to continue with splitting of net income from directory and to also mail a copy of the directory to all AAA members. Gaffney seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Budget: Mindemann moved to table to then next meeting.

Farm Tech Days- July 20-22 Heagle is on top of it. The St Croix Angus Association will be helping with the planning and manning of the booth.

Field day: September 12, 2010 hosted by Tremaine Angus, Oconomowoc.

Association reports: Auxiliary report from Kathy Miller- hosting the dessert auction just before the start of the sale. They are also running the food stand during the sale.

Bevan reported on the website and the face book page. Both projects have good comments.

Meeting dates: Meeting dates were set for the upcoming year as: April 27th, July 27, and Oct 26, 2010.

Other business: The AAA is thinking of hosting a “Boot Camp” in the Madison area. Cassady was wondering if the WAA would donate donuts. Downing moved to for the WAA to sponsor the donuts at this when it would happen in Wisconsin. Seconded by Henningfeld and carried.

Seeing no further business Bevan moved to adjourn the meeting. Gaffney seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned.
