Board of Directors Meeting

February 6, 2016
Before the Annual Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Justin Diefenbach. Those present on the call were: Mel Niemann, Justin Diefenbach, Cody Quam, Sue Finley, Mark Schmidt, Brian Nodolf, Glen Davis, Leslie Mindemann, Chris Thorson, Paul Nuttelman, Jenny Kilpatrick and Ardel Quam.

Secretary report: Nuttelman moved to accept the minutes from the meeting. Thorson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer report: Kilpatrick moved to accept the January report. Mindemann seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Audit: Mindemann reported on the audit she did. She did find that the interest payment on the money market is not being reported on the financials separately. Mindemann would like to board to look at the financials being reported as Mindemann presented between now and the next board meeting. Kilpatrick seconded the motion. Carried.

Budget: Kilpatrick went over the report the committee put together. Papers will be on file with the minutes of this meeting. Would like to see some of items we have money set aside for actually used (i.e. Field day). Is it time to move the scholarship CD into something that is more useable and works more? Nodolf moved to accept the 2016 budget as presented. Schmidt seconded the motion. Carried.

Board members C. Quam goes off the board.

State Fair Show: Changes are happening in the junior show. Nuttelman reported on what he had heard of the changes in the open show order of beef show. They are looking at alternating 3 breeds class by class. The WJAA would like to coauthor a letter that Wisconsin State Fair junior show follows the National Junior Angus showing rules. Kilpatrick moved to do this. Nuttelman seconded. Motion carried. Nuttelman would like to have the show committee help with the Wisconsin Champions at state fair.

Angus steer show WSF Nuttelman has $1000 promised - looking for $1500. Looking at the top 5 steers to get this extra money. Champion in the sale the reserve get money $250 then the next top 4 steers.

Seeing no further business Nodolf moved to adjourn the meeting. Nuttelman seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned.

Secretary report: none

Treasurer report: None.

New Business: Election of officers. Diefenbach opened the floor for president. Jeff Berget was nominated. Seeing no further nominations Davis moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for president. Kilpatrick seconded the motion. Motion carried. Berget opened the floor for nominations of vice president. Paul Nuttelman was nominated. No other names were nominated. Mindemann moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for vice president. Motion was seconded by Kilpatrick. Motion carried. Berget moved to open the floor for the office of secretary/treasurer. Kilpatrick nominated Quam and to cast a unanimous ballot for secretary/treasurer. Motion was seconded by Schmidt. Motion carried.

Next meeting: Next meeting was set for March 29, 2016 at 6:30pm. We will hold this meeting at the Wisconsin Beef Council office, 632 Grand Canyon Dr, Madison, 53719.

Seeing no further business Tremaine moved to adjourn the meeting. Kilpatrick seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned
